Grown in an exposed aiken rock vineyard on the top of Howell Mountain, the fruit for this wine embodies the personality of this rugged mountain landscape. Brooding aromas of black cherries, fresh sage, ripe blueberries, purple flowers, and crushed gravel lead into a powerful and concentrated palate full of black fruits, blueberry cobbler, spiced cedar, and minerals. Mountainous tannins have been gently tamed by the ripe fruit, and a veil of acidity provides backbone and nuance to a sophisticated array of flavors. The lush finish lingers, possessing true staying power that can only come from wines born on this rugged and elevated terrain.
